ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams combined to go 3-1 against William Jewell and Rockhurst in the William Jewell Triangular at Kresge Pool on Friday evening.

The Triton men split defeating the Cardinals 133-71 but were edged by the Hawks 104-100 while the Triton women defeated WJC 106-95 and Rockhurst 115-83.

Hendrik Bechtel led the way for the men winning the 800 meter free and 400 meter free with times of 8:32.14 and 4:07.54 respectively. Bechtel also finished second in the 200 meter fly at 2:09.89. Conley Savage won the 200 meter back in a time of 2:09.1 while Mason Stimson was second in the event with a time of 2:12.61. Savage also took third in the 200 meter free in a time of 1:59.97.

Also placing in the top five was David Reynolds who took second in the 50 meter free at 24.00 seconds while Mattia Nardi and Aaron Wicklund were third and fifth in the 400 individual medley with times of 4:41.14 and 4:43.12 respectively. Metehan Saruhan was second in the 100 free at 51.95 seconds and Reynolds was fourth at 53.04 seconds. Carson Ring came in fifth in the 400 free at 4:24.54 and Dylan Bonnett was fourth in the 200 breast at 2:27.61.

UMSL's 200 meter free relay foursome of Reynolds, Lathan Parks, Saruhan and Ethan Boehle were second at 1:34.24 while the 200 medley relay quartet of Ryan Conner, Landon Hanesworth, Savage and Parks took third with a time of 1:47.60.

The Triton women picked up six event wins and were led by Justice Beard who won the 800 and 400 free races with times of 9:13.36 and 4:32.64 respectively. Chiara Alberola won the 200 fly at 2:26.13, Kate Nelson won the 100 free in a time of 1:00.13 and Ella Lantz took the top spot in the 200 back with a time of 2:24.87. UMSL's 200 free relay foursome of Nelson, Madison Bottorff, Audrey Lantz and Romina Itzkovich were first at 1:49.78.

Also placing in the top five were Itzkovich in the 200 free at 2:13.33 while Jasmine Tilly came in fifth in the race with a time of 2:18.04. A. Lantz and Bottorff finished second and fourth in the 50 free with times of 27.91 and 28.49 seconds respectively. Sophi Whitesell finished fourth in the 400 IM at 5:27.73. A. Lantz was third in the 100 free at 1:01.14 and Isabella Gruidl finished third in the 200 back in a time of 2:30.75. Cheyanne Godleski took fourth in the 200 breast at 2:48.38.

UMSL's 200 medley relay quartet of E. Lantz, Godleski, Callie Clinton and Nelson finished second in a time of 2:03.47.

The Tritons host Truman State in its home opener on Saturday (Nov. 2) at 12 p.m. at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
